| Providing Regional Leadership Development | |
| Missouri State University, in Springfield, Missouri, offers a regional leadership development program called Greater Ozarks Leadership Development (GOLD). GOLD provides important leadership development training for all communities in Southwest Missouri, to enhance community building know-how across the region, and to foster a broad network of communication and collaboration. | |
| The Need for a Regionally Focused Leadership Program | |
|
As regional challenges become more complex, the need to develop effective civic leaders is an increasingly pressing concern. Our challenges do not lie neatly within city or country boundaries, nor do their solutions. The quality of life and future growth of our region depends on our ability to work together across these boundaries to find common ground. Today's regional challenges require a new level of problem solving capability and the ability to work across political, geographic and industrial boundaries. Greater Ozarks Leadership Development (GOLD) builds bridges between communities, facilitating communication, cooperation, and effective community-building know-how. GOLD works hand in glove with local leadership development programs, creating a next step at the regional level. GOLD also provides leadership training for those smaller communities lacking the resources or people to sustain a leadership development program over time on their own. |
